Effective 2026-07-27
Effective date: 2026-07-13 · Version 1.0
Platform operator: Crater Ink Studios LLC, operating the Why Stationery marketplace, 4934 Swamp Rd, Felton, PA 17322, USA. Applies to: everyone who uses Why Stationery — buyers, sellers, and visitors. Governing law: Pennsylvania.
1. The spirit of this policy
Why Stationery works because buyers and independent shops deal with each other honestly and respectfully. This policy sets the ground rules for how people treat each other and use the platform. It works alongside the Prohibited & Restricted Content Policy (what you may not post or sell) and the Intellectual Property & DMCA Policy.
2. Treat people with respect
Do not harass, threaten, stalk, or intimidate anyone, and do not post content that promotes hatred, violence, or discrimination against people based on a protected characteristic — including race, color, national origin, ethnicity, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, or veteran status. This applies in listings, shop profiles, order messages, and reviews alike.
3. Deal honestly
- Buyers: give accurate details for custom orders, review your proof promptly, and don't file false claims or abuse the cancellation, refund, or chargeback process.
- Sellers: describe your items accurately, respond to custom-order messages within a reasonable time, honor the fulfillment and cancellation terms you present, and don't manipulate search placement, ratings, or reviews.
4. Reviews and feedback
Reviews must be honest and based on a real order. Do not post fake, incentivized, or retaliatory reviews, and do not use reviews — or the threat of one — to pressure or extort the other party. A shop's rating reflects the experience of the whole shop.
5. Keep communication about the order
The messaging and order-thread tools are for communicating about orders. Do not use them to send spam, unsolicited marketing, or off-topic solicitations, or to harass another user. Buyer contact information you receive to fulfill an order may be used only for that order, not for your own marketing.
6. Don't misuse the platform
Do not attempt to break, overload, scrape, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the platform or another user's account; introduce malware; impersonate others; or use the service to commit fraud. Sellers must transact and communicate through the platform and may not steer buyers off-platform to avoid fees or protections — the specifics are set out in the Seller Agreement.
7. Fair competition between shops
Independent shops compete on Why Stationery, and that competition must be fair. You may not:
- Interfere with another shop — for example, contacting a rival's buyers to warn them off, disrupt an order, or divert a sale.
- Commit click fraud — clicking, or arranging clicks on, a competitor's promoted listing to drain its advertising budget, or clicking your own promoted listing to inflate it.
- Manipulate reviews or ratings — review brigading, coordinated negative reviews, sock-puppet or fake accounts, or trading reviews to move a shop's standing up or down.
- Coordinate on price — agreeing or colluding with other sellers to fix, raise, or hold prices, allocate customers, or rig the market. This is prohibited and may also violate antitrust law.
- Manipulate your own sales signals — buying your own listings, arranging fake or circular purchases, or otherwise faking demand, sales volume, or search performance.
8. Protect others' privacy
Do not collect, expose, or misuse another person's personal information. How Why Stationery itself handles personal data is described in the Privacy Policy.
9. Your account
You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your login secure. Tell us right away if you believe your account has been compromised.
10. Enforcement
If you break this policy we may warn you, remove content, cancel affected orders, limit, suspend, or terminate a shop or account, and take any step the law requires. Serious or repeated violations lead to termination.
11. Content moderation and appeals
We aim to enforce our policies through one predictable path:
- Notice. When we remove content or limit, suspend, or terminate an account, we tell the affected user what we acted on and, in general terms, why — unless the law prevents us from doing so or notice would compromise an investigation, safety, or a legal obligation.
- Temporary vs. permanent. We distinguish between temporary actions (for example, removing a single listing or a short suspension while we review) and permanent ones (for example, terminating a shop or account for serious or repeated violations), and we tell you which applies.
- Appeal. If you believe we acted in error, you may appeal within 14 days of the action by replying to our notice or using the reporting contact in Section 12. Tell us what was actioned and why you think it was a mistake.
- Review and reinstatement. A person will review a timely appeal, and if we find we acted in error we will reinstate the content or account. Our decision on appeal is final.
- Automated review. We may use automated tools to detect and act on policy violations. Where an automated action materially affects you, you may request the human review described above.
Copyright removals and counter-notices follow the separate DMCA process in the Intellectual Property & DMCA Policy rather than this section.
12. Reporting a problem
Report conduct that breaks this policy from the item or message, or at hello@craterinkstudios.com. We aim to respond within 5 business days. Copyright issues follow the Intellectual Property & DMCA Policy; prohibited or illegal content follows the Prohibited & Restricted Content Policy.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy; the current version is the one posted here.
